Balancing the Active Power of a Railway Traction Power Substation with an sp-RPC

The railway system is one of the safest, most efficient, and environmentally friendly means land transport for people goods. However, as demand mobility has increased, current shown some weaknesses, requiring an increase in catenary power order to be able supply longer trains faster locomotives, well rail traffic. This paper proposes a control algorithm implemented sectioning post-Rail Power Conditioner (sp-RPC). sp-RPC connected neutral section between two traction substations (TPS). With algorithm, it possible minimize existing unbalance active powers each TPS. In regenerative braking condition, this surplus energy can used assist another locomotive on overhead line. way, capacity analysis was performed with computer models using modular multilevel converter (MMC) topology sp-RPC. Quantitative results different consumption events locomotives response these variations are presented.
